On the coldest day of the year, Phi Eta Omega helped Scotch Plains residents unplug with a day of mindfulness at the historic Shady Rest Country Club. Twenty-five people, including
Margaret C. Heisey, QPA, Deputy Municipal Manager,
Assemblywoman Linda Carter,
Councilwoman Elizabeth Stamler, Phi Eta Omega members and area residents turned off their phones for a day of yoga, games, health snacks and relaxation tips and techniques.
Offered in conjunction with the Township of Scotch Plains Mayor's Wellness Campaign, the Unplugged event invited attendees to share their personal commitment to practice the mindfulness lessons learned throughout the day. Each guest was given a gift pack containing a variety of mindfulness resources including stress relief toys, fidget spinners, website links, reading lists, coloring books, crayons and more.
